Flannel Shirt

Back from vacation

They got back yesterday afternoon, but reports have it that someone did a lot of complaining about how long it took for them to get back home. And she said something about "there better be ice cream" or something like that. 

Well, today I extended our afternoon walk over to the food carts. I like bringing her up there just to hang out among people, but something else is happening. The man who runs the Chinese food cart, always has this stern look on his face. But the last time I was up there with Izzy I talked about her and he smiled. Today I got myself some pork and fried rice. Izzy was fidgeting, have to keep her on a short leash, but she attracted lots of attention, good attention. I think it's her eyes. They are golden. With her wheat-colored coat her eyes are magnificent. And the Chinese chef, when he called me over to get my order, looked down at us and smiled. This guy never smiles. And he smiles at Izzy. 

More snow, more melt

 

 

Pretty much the same as yesterday. More snow overnight, which looks pretty but doesn't last. Don't get me wrong. After the two ice storms last year I want things to melt. We saw some Olympics. A speed skater relay race. Then we watched the Warriors, their first game after the league's all star break. They won. 

We talked about taking the dogs to the dog park, but with all the melted snow it was probably a muddy mess. So we didn't. 

I thought I'd put up a picture of Gilbert. Not a lot of energy these days but he's a good dog. He loves everybody. 

The news from Portland

Well, we got news from the pet hospital. Gilbert has an enlarged mitral heart valve. There's medicine that can help and he's expected to come home tomorrow. While he's been away Izzy has been occupying some of Gil's favorite places on couches around the house. 

We actually got a dry day today. The big storm is coming in tomorrow, I think. The mountains are going to get lots of snow over the next week or so. 

I'm running out of flannel shirts and blue jeans, so I think laundry day is approaching.

The only news is bad news. Gilbert is in the veterinary hospital. His heart. Hope he can manage to control it with meds. We find out more later today.
