Rainy day again. I think that Gil's feeling his oats now. He's been reestablishing the place in the hierarchy over Izzy, although Izzy was never trying to usurp him. Gil's the top dog.
Wednesday night night Joanie and I went to the theater and saw the second part of "Astoria". It's a play about Astoria, Oregon, a town near the mouth of the Columbia River. Back in the early 1800s John Astor, one of the richest men in the world, sent two parties to Oregon to establish a trading post and control the fur trade. One party went by ship around South America up the coast to Oregon. That was a pretty awful trip. But the overland trip turned out to be worse. Eventually a post was set up there. Lots of people died. The show was actually pretty good in its concept, switching between different characters speaking to the audience with little parts of the history acted out. Our next show comes up on the 13th.
