This time last week I was bugged because my taxes, on TurboTax, were coming out hinky (the program wasn't getting my state taxes to Cali and Oregon right). I was debating about going to an H&R Block when Joan suggested I try a place where they help seniors do their taxes for free.
Well, I did today. I owe California $21. I owe Oregon $9. And I'm getting more than $1300 back from the feds. There is something with Oregon tax law where a percentage of my federal pension earned before October 1, 1991 isn't taxed. So although Oregon has a higher state income tax than California, my tax burden, because of this law, is going down!
Don't worry. It'll get spent soon enough. I just feel pretty rich right now. Took Joan out for lunch. Anything on the menu, baby. Anything.
