The San Francisco Board of Supervisors have come up with an incredibly dumb idea to end traffic congestion downtown. Charging people for driving through the City. At three dollars a pop it would be in addition to the bridge fees for the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges.
I have sympathy that the parking in downtown San Francisco is terrible, but, really, the traffic isn't as bad as a lot of places. This, of course, will again hurt those people who work in the City but can't afford to live there. You can't ride a bicycle to work from a town forty miles away in the East Bay. And overseas, like in London where they actually have implemented this, they have a functioning, integrated transit system.
This is absolutely the worst thing in the current economy. Anyway, the idea really sucks and if I ran a business I'd be calling City Hall to get this idea killed or trying to get out of my lease.
